Capturing. Writing. Creating.

Hey There!
I am Cara Bukacek, a Colorado Springs-based food and product photographer. I specialize in culinary imagery, brand storytelling, and marketing asset creation for restaurants, food brands, product makers throughout the Pikes Peak region and beyond. My work blends food photography, professional product imagery, and written storytelling to help brands communicate their identity with clarity and intention.
My journey into food writing and food photography started during the pandemic after I created a food blog called Peak Thyme. It was a creative outlet that showcased my original recipes, and gave me a platform to share my love for our local culinary community.
Through my blog, I was recruited to write for Colorado Springs Lifestyle Magazine. In my role at the magazine, I have written over 75 published articles and when needed, also captured and provided the images for several features. In addition to writing I was also the Social Media Coordinator for two years.
Food has always been my passion, not just as a writer but an avid home chef. I love creating recipes with ingredients that inspire me, capturing their flavors, textures, and stories. Alongside my writing, I have honed my food photography skills, producing professional, publication-ready images that compliment the stories I tell.
Beyond writing and photography, I have a knack for visual storytelling through design. I am skilled at creating custom logos & ads, posters, business cards and other miscellaneous marketing materials. My goal is to bring focus and personality to every project I touch.
What sets Peak Thyme Creative apart is my ability to connect with people. I love telling authentic stories in ways that engage and inspire, whether it’s through words, images, or design. Every project I take on is driven by curiosity, creativity, and a desire to make ideas, brands, and stories come to life.
